Greetings to all NCRCHA members!                                                                                Summer 2007

We are just over halfway through the NCRCHA club show season.  After examining the show results, there appears to be numerous opportunities remaining for 2007 year end awards.  We will be awarding 4 trophy saddles for first place in the Open, Non Pro, 1000 LTD, and Youth.  Buckles will be awarded for reserve in all classes.  We are currently working on other year end prizes.

Remember, to be eligible for year end awards you must compete in at least 50% of the current year’s NCRCHA club shows.  We have 7 shows on the calendar this year so that means you have to compete in at least 4 shows.  With the level of competition this year we urge you not to miss any of the remaining 3 shows!  Check the website for show results and the year end point standings or ask to see them at the show.

The rookie class this year has been a great thrill to watch.  The number of competitors has increased and the quality of both riders and horses, in my opinion, is very impressive.  The best part of being president has been awarding the Rookie buckles!  Rookies keep showing!

The last club show this year will be October 28, which is the Sunday after the Futurity/Derby.  This will all be held at Red Horse Ranch Arena in Fergus Falls, MN. This arena is a fabulous new equestrian destination and should not be missed!  It is our hope that all club members will come for the Futurity/Derby and stay for the club show.  There will also be AQHA classes to participate in.  There are many opportunities to ride as well as volunteer throughout the weekend.  Plan on spending the weekend!  Events start Thursday evening, October 25.  A detailed schedule will be out shortly. The Futurity/Derby is our clubs “premier” event of the year.  It is our chance to show other associations what we can offer.  Plan to attend, volunteer and participate!

Thank you to everyone who has helped out with shows so far this season.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  We are continuing to look for volunteers for our upcoming shows, Saturday, August 18, in Preston, MN; Saturday, September 29, in Morton, MN; and October 26-28 in Fergus Falls, MN.

Here are some specific needs

Before the show:       organizing shows and setting up the facility

At the show:               announcing, scribing, working gates, and cattle help

After the show:           arena tear down, clean up, etc.

Please help out wherever you can.  You don’t need to commit to an entire day.  We are trying to keep shifts to half day or less so everyone can still ride and compete!

Raffle Tickets

Please remember that Raffle Ticket sales are a major fund raising effort for the NCRCHA this year.  The money from the ticket sales goes towards year end awards.  Ticket sales are not meeting our expectations at this time.  It is our hope that we can get these tickets sold and the money turned in as soon as possible.

Remember the raffle ticket prizes are: 1st - High Quality Cow Horse Saddle, 2nd – Trophy saddle stand (fine furniture quality), 3rd Tom Balding Cow Horse Bit.  Also, a high quality snaffle bit will be awarded to the club member who sells the most tickets.  The drawing for these prizes will be Saturday evening, October 27, after the Futurity/Derby at Red Horse Ranch Arena in Fergus Falls.  If you need additional tickets please contact Mark Lecy or Steve Mattson. If you have tickets stubs and money to turn in, please send to: Steve Mattson  24155 Wood Lane, Rogers, MN 55374.

E-mail Addresses

To receive up to the minute information via e-mail you need to have sent an e-mail to Tammy Anderson at: mtanderson@myclearwave.net  to be on the Group NCRCHA e-mail list.  If you have not already done so or you are not currently receiving any e-mail correspondence from the NCRCHA you need to send Tammy an e-mail requesting that your e-mail address be added to her list.  We do not send out ads or sell this list, we only use it when we need to get out last minute information.  We have found that using both e-mail and the NCRCHA website to be very effective tools in getting information to members in a timely fashion.
